CSAH partners with Queen’s University and other educational institutions to support both self-paced and facilitated online learning in aging and health. We offer age-related course material to support a range of learners needs.
The Core Geriatrics Curriculum includes topics routinely covered within the undergraduate and resident teachings in Geriatric Medicine at Queen's University. Materials will also be relevant to other health professional groups.
CSAH is passionate about lifelong learning for health care providers and others working with older adults. We have partnered with community agencies, long-term care and hospitals to provide evidenced based practice information through in-person, web-based and blended learning opportunities. April 18 - 20, 2020 at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute. This workshop is designed for healthcare providers working in oncology or palliative care settings. The workshop will begin by introducing CALM concepts and move into more advanced material with an emphasis on skill development. For more information click here.
April 6 - May 3, 2020 this 4 week online workshop aims to help participants develop competence in providing LGBTQ affirming care to older adult clients. Through engagement with case studies, popular media, short readings, and Q&A sessions, you will be prompted to reflect upon your existing practice and experience, gain familiarity with the LGBTQ communities you serve, and develop a knowledge base and tools that will enable participants to better provide affirming care across practice settings. March 30-31, 2020 from 8am to 4pm at the 1026 Baseline Rd. Ottawa. This 2 day education series focuses on clinical topics related to the provision of care to older adults including sessions on dementia, delirium, depression, mobility, falls, capacity and living with risk. ECHO - Care of the Elderly helps primary care providers build capacity in the care of older adults through weekly videoconference sessions. The program is fully funded by the Ministry of Helath and Long Term Care and offers free CPD/CME credits. Topics covered include dementia, responsive behaviours, frailty, pain, polypharmacy, medical cannabis and more. The next cohort runs from January 8 to April 29, 2020.
