Funding Opportunities

This list includes possible funding opportunities for communities aiming to become age-friendly: 

  • Ontario Sport and Recreation Communities Fund provides funding to support one or two-year projects aimed at increasing opportunities for people of all ages so they can become more active. Currently accepting applications until January 16, 2018. 
  • Canadian Institute of Health Research provides funding for health research.
  • Healthy Communities Fund is a provincial program that supports communities to plan and deliver integrated programs that improve the health of Ontarians.
  • Ontario Trillium Foundation is Canada’s largest grant-making foundation and an agency of the Ontario government. Read more for application deadlines
  • New Horizons for Seniors Program Funding is a provincial program that supports community-based programming that focuses on ensuring seniors are active, engaged, and informed. 
  • Affordable Rental Innovation Fund is a program run by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation aimed at encouraging innovation in the affordable and accessible rental housing sector. Currently accepting applications. 
  • SEED Funding for Affordable Housing is a program funded by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation aimed at supporting the creation of new affordable housing units. Ongoing application process.
  • Ontario Age-Friendly Community Recognition Program: This program celebrates and showcases Ontario communities that are taking steps to becoming age-friendly by creating policies, programs and services that support seniors.
  • Community Transportation Grant Program: Municipal Stream funds the development of community transportation solutions to address local transportation needs, including ways to better utilize existing transportation resources.
