The Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association is pleased to present the 2017 Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Conference, being held in Ottawa from September 20th to 23rd. This conference provides doctors, nurses, pharmacists, hospice palliative care and other allied healthcare professionals; and caregivers, volunteers, spiritual advisers, and social workers with the opportunity to share their experience and expertise on a national platform.  This event expects to attract 500-800 hospice palliative care professionals.

This 5 week online course is presented by Bobbi Symes and the University of Victoria and is intended to support those working with older adults in long-term, acute and home care. Registrants will acquire the knowledge and skills needed to apply an evidence-based approach to the prevention of falls and fall-related injuries. Learn how to design, implement and evaluate a fall prevention program, cost is $225 and requires a textbook. To register please click here.

Join them Sept 22nd from 1:30 - 3:30 pm at Kingston General Hospital for a Patient Education session.
This will be led by Dr. Michael Rauh and Elina Cook from Queen's University on the role of the clinical laboratory in personalizing leukemia and lymphoma diagnosis and driving research on the origins of these cancers.

The Alzheimer Society of Ontario is hosting a knowledge exchange opportunity for local Alzheimer Societies, people living with dementia, as well as professionals offering falls prevention and recreational services to older adults.  The event will be held at the Crown Plaza Toronto Airport Hotel and there is no registration fee for this conference. Sept. 27th at 12 noon EST, Sharon Kaasalainen & Pamela Durepos of McMaster University and Tamara Sussman of McGill University will be talking about implementation processes, clinical and administrative tools, and educational materials that will inform how qualified health professionals and decision-makers can improve the delivery of palliative care in long-term care.
